Flaws in motorcycles that cause devastating injuries

On Behalf of | Apr 25, 2023 | Injuries | 0 comments

Driving a motorcycle is an incomparable thrill. Two-wheeled vehicles offer enormous speed and mobility that deliver a jolt of adrenaline.

Along with the joy, there is danger. Wrecks are not always the fault of the driver. Sometimes, the cause of a wipeout comes down to the cycle itself. More than a few potential defects can lead to tragedy.

Problem #1: Cracking in the frame

Tiny fractures in motorcycle frames have a way of growing into massive concerns. Once a break begins, typical riding conditions tend to exacerbate the fracture. As the fissure expands, moisture from the elements will get inside and wreak havoc on essential gears and parts.

Problem #2: Leaking from the fuel tank

A design error can cause gas to spill everywhere. Any accumulation of combustible liquid presents a hazard. Simply starting the engine could send a spark that ignites a gas puddle into a raging inferno, burning the rider and others nearby. Riders should pay attention to smells that suggest trouble.

Problem #3: Loosening of the handlebars

The ability to steer is an obvious necessity. If someone is flying down the highway at even a reasonable speed as the grip falls off, a crash becomes almost inevitable. This can happen with motorcycles made using substandard nuts and bolts. Owners should tighten their handlebars the moment they detect the tiniest wobble.

Many assume that motorcycle accidents are always the fault of their operators. This is not the case, as defects remain a significant trigger. When an inherent flaw leads to someone getting hurt, the victim deserves restitution.
