Fatal car crashes steadily increasing in Tennessee

On Behalf of | Jan 13, 2021 | fatal motor vehicle accidents | 0 comments

For many people in Tennessee, the most preferred mode of transportation is driving their motor vehicles. It may be a car, a truck or motorcycle, but people drive their personal vehicles almost every day. This means that there are many vehicles on the various roads in the state each day. With all these vehicles on the roads it is important that all drivers follow the various rules of the law, reduce distractions, drive sober and take other precautions so car crashes do not occur.

Unfortunately, this does not always happen though and as a result there are many crashes each year. Some of these accidents can be relatively minor and people are able to simply drive away, but not everyone is that lucky though. Some people suffer significant injuries as a result of the crashes and some even die from their injuries. Fatal car accidents are particularly devastating and can have major consequences for the victims’ families.

Fatal car crash statistics

Fatal car crashes have also been on the rise over the last few years in Tennessee. In 2015, there were 962 fatal crashes and in 2019, there were 1,136, which was almost 100 more fatal crashes than occurred in 2018 when there were 1,040. All different types of vehicles were involved in these fatal accidents as well. The majority involved cars and pick-up trucks, but in 2019 there were 153 fatal crashes involving motorcycles and 156 that involved large trucks or busses. Also, 148 pedestrians died in the crashes as well.

Losing a loved one Tennessee is always a difficult experience, but losing a loved one in a fatal accident can be particularly difficult. The family has no warning and can be left with a major void both emotionally and financially. In addition to losing the love and support, the family is also losing the income and financial security that comes with that. However, the families may be able to receive compensation from the person who caused the accident for the financial loss. The compensation will not bring the loved one back, but it can still be very valuable and consulting with experienced attorneys could be beneficial.
