Accident in Knoxville area claims one life

On Behalf of | May 6, 2020 | fatal motor vehicle accidents | 0 comments

Police reported that a head-on collision in the greater Knoxville area claimed the life of one person and left another person with serious injuries.

The accident happened in Roane County and involved two private passenger vehicles. Police say the head on collision happened on an urban state highway in front of a commercial area.

The victim who died was a 58-year woman who was initially life-flighted from the scene of the accident. The other driver, a 72-year-old woman, also suffered injuries in the accident, although details about her condition were not reported.

The deceased victim’s three passengers, who included a small child, were not physically injured in the accident. The Tennessee Highway Patrol will continue to investigate the accident.

No matter the outcome of the investigation, there are likely two families who are going to need financial support in the upcoming weeks and months. Either victim could have had a job at the time of this fatal motor vehicle accident which they can no longer do.

Both victims’ families will also have to pay some medical bills, and one also will have to pay for the costs of a funeral.

In additional to financial losses, the emotional loss and grief surrounding this tragic accident are likely profound, and families can obtain compensation for these non-economic losses just as they can for items like medical bills and lost wages.

As the investigation into this accident continues, both families will likely want to explore their legal options and determine their best strategy for obtaining compensation.
